JROTC Outstanding Cadet
Bruce
Talbot, Chairman of the Illinois Society Sons of the American Revolution
Junior ROTC Program recently presented the
2007 Illinois Society Outstanding Cadet for 2007 award to Miranda Jasinski
of Bloom Trail High School, in Chicago Heights, Illinois.
Cadet
Jasinski's nomination was sponsored by the Fort Dearborn Chapter and has
been forwarded to Compatriot Ron Hamilton for the National Society
Outstanding JROTC Cadet $1,000 scholarship competition.
Miranda
has a 4.3 grade point average on a 4.0 scale (extra grade points were
awarded by the school for Advanced Placement level classes). In his
letter of recommendation Mr. Ronald Ray, the principal of Bloom Trail High
School, notes that Miranda ranks 7th in her class of 360 students, is a
National Honor Society member, and an accomplished athlete having won
a position on the varsity woman's softball team. Miranda has also
participated on the school's Scholastic Bowl Team as a mathematics
specialist.
Lt.
Commander Walsh, (USN retired) the military science instructor at Bloom
Trail High School notes Miranda has served the unit as a squad leader and
is the assistant drill team commander. The drill team placed
6th in the Region 3 Naval JROTC drill team competition out of 50 schools
this term.
Compatriot
Ron Hamilton, Chairman of the National Society JROTC Outstanding Cadet
award program, relates that the final selection of the winning cadet
should be completed by May 18 and posted on the National Society web site
shortly there after.
