Statement of Work:
Full-time Unix and Open Source Software developer for HPSS (High Performance Storage Systems) software development. The HPSS developer will work in an Agile environment collaborating with other developers and stakeholders. Emphasis is placed on providing working software based on requirements and customer needs meeting sprints and programmatic milestones. The HPSS developer should understand how to create high and low level designs, implement approved designs, create and execute unit and integration test cases, create test reports, write and document software and other required documentation, identify the root cause of software defects, design and implement corrective actions, manage changes including incorporating feedback in future development, estimate effort involved with development tasks, and direct support of external clients when called upon to troubleshoot an issue.
The HPSS developer should be experienced with Unix system programming, understand how to use and contribute to Open Source Software development, be highly skilled and experienced in C, C++, or C# and in Python development, and be able to work independently while still being a positive contributor on a development team.
Job Duty 1 with 15% of time - Review requirements and technical specifications, define design options, evaluate design options that will achieve requirements and specifications, and develop preliminary and detailed designs.
Job Duty 2 with 70% of time - Perform complex software implementation and coding within sprints using C, Python, and Open Source Software, integrate and adapt to changes and feedback from stakeholders, balance business and technical requirements and priorities, resolve complex implementation problems, and document software.
Job Duty 3 with 15% of time - Develop unit and integration tests, perform software tests across multiple subsystems, identify problems impacting progress, implement solutions to address problems.
Required skills/Level of Experience :
UNIX/Linux operating system experience: 1 year
UNIX systems programming (distributed applications, Unix network, socket, IPC, RPC, threads): 1 year
Python programming: 1 year
Java programming: 1 year
At least one other language in the C/ C++ / C# family: 1 year
Agile Development: 1 year
Open Source Software evaluation, integration, and use: 1 year
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
