We are currently looking for a long term part time Proposal Writer/Editor to author management or technical proposal sections, past performance volumes, , RFP/RFI responses, and other proposal materials in response to government solicitations. The right candidate will be able to clearly and creatively present complex solutions in written proposals for government agencies. Position requires some presence in our Schaumburg office but some work can be done from home.
This position coordinates, writes, and edits all components/information and material required for proposal generation efforts. Tasks encompass writing, some basic graphic design, composing templates, developing compliance matrices, managing time-lines, ensuring formats, applicable laws, and federal regulations are followed; while adhering to standards for quality and maintaining document repositories.
The position is responsible for analyzing RFP requirements; identifying required responses, determining gaps and inconsistencies in the proposal request and crafting questions seeking clarification.
Proposal generation begins with developing storyboards that present solution concepts and benefits to drive the proposal's key messages in support of the proposal win strategy. It continues with describing clear, measurable benefits to highlight to the customer how our performance on similar contracts will produce results for the customer. Proposal generation includes creating themes, organizing and editing past performance documentation, describing required solutions, and creating or organizing material and writing inputs to meet RFP specifications.
Proposal review includes editing material for structure, accuracy, organizational consistency, and appropriateness of content; recommending changes in scope, format, content, structure, and rewriting, as required.
EXPERIENCE: Experience with gathering information from technical and non-technical personnel for use as substantive content in proposals. Experience with developing materials for technical and management proposals, preferably submitted to government agencies. 4+ years of experience with writing and editing technical and management documents. One year of federal government proposal experience, Department of Defense (DoD) preferred. Knowledge of FAR and DFAR a plus.
EDUCATION: BA/BS and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SKILLS: Proficient in MS Office Suite 2007 or later required, particularly Word formatting of large complex documents.
