The Hosted Operations Engineer assists in all phases of infrastructure setup, administration and support. The ideal candidate will have expert level knowledge of AWS, while Azure knowledge is a plus. In addition, the Cloud Systems Administrator will respond to system alerts, triage the incident, and resolve the issue or escalate appropriately.
•Planning, deploying and configuring systems in a cloud based infrastructure (AWS/Azure)
•Planning, designing and creating storage, networking and other system components
•Maintaining and monitoring systems
•Implementing performance tuning systems based on monitoring
•Securing systems, networks and individual computers based on requirements and implementation
•Planning, implementing and controlling user and account security rights and restrictions
Requirements (Education, Skills & Abilities)
•Bachelor's degree in computer science, another technical scientific discipline or equivalent work experience
•5-7 years of Linux Systems Administration in an enterprise environment
•Knowledge of Linux (CentOS/Ubuntu) Apache and network configuration and troubleshooting
•Mastery of one or more scripting languages for automating common tasks in a Linux environment (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python)
•Expertise in Use, Configuration, Deployment and Administration of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure
•Experience Installing and configuring Linux hosts in a Cloud environment.
•Experience working with configuration management and automation tools (Ansible & Jenkins preferred)
•Experience with Setup and configuration of Log File Management tools (i.e. Splunk/ELK)
•Extensive experience with change & incident management.
•The ability to test and validate updates and changes to the Linux instances without adverse effects on the production environment.
•Ability to develop and maintain system, infrastructure and process documentation, including adherence to defined change management process and procedures.
•A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, performance bottlenecks, etc.
•Good team player, but able to work effectively independently
•Logical problem solver
•Able to participate in a 24x7 on call rotation
•Experience in Use, Configuration, Deployment and Administration of Microsoft Azure Infrastructure
•Familiarity with Atlassian solutions (Confluence/Jira/HipChat)
